S-O-O-N

SooN

My grandfather once told me;
Enjoy life my child,
But pay heed to the conformities of life.
A nipper I was,
So I never for once adhered to his parables.
I enjoyed life to the max,
Disregarding the advice of the elderly whom I found useless and enemies.
I clubbed,smoked and banged.
I robbed,sucked and drank.
But little did I know,
That as the clock ticked,
So did my life span reduce.

Slower and sometimes faster,
My time drew nearer and closer.
I began to find essence in what my grandfather said.
But then I had nothing left of me,
Except of course my diminished body and lost soul.
I began to wonder if I could turn the mighty hands of time,
Perhaps, make hay while the sun shone.
I cried, wept and yelled in utmost dismay,
When I finally realised how wasted I am.
And that my time was soon,
My time was near.
